As women and mothers in today's society, we lead extremely busy lives. Our job description extends well beyond the four walls of the office or building we work in. We must be efficient at multitasking throughout the day! Getting up early to get the kids off to school, making school lunches, getting to work on time, making supper, cleaning the house, helping the kids with homework and walking the dog! It can all seem daunting to find the time and energy to fit in a workout most days.

According to Statistics Canada, the percentage of Canadians who are overweight or obese has risen dramatically in recent years, mirroring a worldwide phenomenon. The health consequences of excess weight are well known. There are many risk factors including type 2 diabetes, cardiovascular disease, high blood pressure, osteoarthritis, some cancers and gallbladder disease. As well, psychosocial problems, functional limitations and disabilities are associated with excess weight.
As little as 30 - 60 minutes, 3-5 days per week, will decrease your risk of these diseases!
There are 1440 minutes in one day - why not designate 30 - 60 of those minutes for physical activity?
